I hate unreliable CDs and DVDs, welcome USB keys and flash memory cards.

In the 80s when the CD came out the music industry promised an unbreakable, durable media. But the truth is that CDs are very unreliable, and fragile. In the 90s the industry reiterated with DVDs, same lies, same result. Over 20 years after their introduction, CDs are still as unreliable as they have ever been.

Now finally with Flash memory cards found in USB keys, iPods, digital cameras, cell phones, and more and more appliances, the entertainment industry might be embracing a media I can accept.

Besides a higher price tag, flash memory cards have countless advantages over CDs and DVDs, they're much more reliable, durable, provide much faster random access, can be written many times, are much smaller and lighter, do not require mechanical drives with unreliable heads, consume much less electricity when read or written, and are completely silent.

I can't wait for the time when CDs, DVDs, Blu-rays, HD-DVDs, and the like will be retired for good.
